Turkey generated $60 million 989 thousand from the export of 18 thousand 301 tons of dried tomatoes to 91 countries in the January-June period of 2026. As the world's third-largest tomato producer after China and India, with an annual production exceeding 14 million tons, tomatoes grown in Turkey are processed into value-added products such as paste, sauce, and dried tomatoes, in addition to fresh consumption. Dried tomatoes rank among the top value-added products in tomato production, with the majority of production taking place in Antalya, Mersin, and İzmir. The export journey of tomatoes harvested in many provinces begins with a challenging production process under the scorching sun in July. Tomatoes transported from the fields to drying areas by trucks and tractors are halved by workers.
