The European Commission has published the annual activity report of the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) for the year 2025. This document, summarizing the first full year of the new Commission term, brings strategic changes in the area of official microbiological control, digitalization of pathogen surveillance, as well as key regulatory simplifications and legally binding goals for reducing food waste. We present the most important conclusions from the report, with particular attention to the area of microbiology, which is a priority for the industry.
