Yanggu County supports early rice production targeting the Chuseok holiday

This is a strategic support program aimed at reducing the burden on farmers who participate in early rice production, securing the early rice market before Chuseok through early shipment, expanding the distribution of clean Yanggu rice, and strengthening brand competitiveness. In particular, it is expected to expand the sales channels for high-quality Yanggu rice by utilizing the peak season of festival demand and also contribute to improving farmers' income. Yanggu County plans to spend a total of 74.5 million won to support a total of 230 tons. The county will bear 54.5 million won, and Yanggu Agricultural Cooperative will bear 20 million won. Farmers will receive 6,000 won for weight reduction per 40 kg, 473 won per 10 kg bag, and 1,650 won per 4 kg box. The program targets rice farmers who can harvest early and have signed a purchase agreement with the Yanggu Agricultural Cooperative (Grain Comprehensive Processing Center) by April. Purchase quantities for each farm have been confirmed based on the application volume and past performance, and the first purchase is planned to start by the end of this month. Agricultural Support Division Chief Jo Jong-gu said, "Early rice production is an opportunity to advance the distribution period of high-quality Yanggu rice and to capture the high-demand market before Chuseok" and "This program will increase farmers' income and further strengthen brand competitiveness."
