REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SLEMAN -- Sleman Millennial Farmers, together with the Sleman Horticultural Farmers Association (PPHPM), Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, and Indonesia Chili Champion, have carried out the first export of one variety of chili to Japan, amounting to nine tons. "The first chili export of around nine tons to Japan was carried out a few days ago (7/8) and in the future we will also try to market it to several countries in Asia and the Middle East," said Director of Sleman Millennial Farmers Ardhi Prasetyo in Sleman, Monday. According to him, this step, besides bringing in foreign exchange for the country, is also a strategy to keep the domestic chili price above the break-even point (BEP), so that farmers do not incur losses amid the collapse of prices in the market. "Recently, the price of chili has fallen close to the BEP. We do not want the farmers to suffer losses, so we take the step of buying chili above the BEP to then market it abroad," he said. ...
