Bonn (agrar-PR) - The Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE) has published the landing statistics for the year 2025. The 1,077 fishing vessels of the German deep-sea and coastal fisheries landed around 173,733 tons of fish – seven percent more than in the previous year. Revenues rose by 32 percent to 236.4 million euros, mainly due to the increased landing of higher-priced fish such as edible crab, cod, or black halibut. "Despite the critical condition of the Baltic Sea and the associated minimal catch quotas as well as the ban on targeted cod and herring fishing there, the landing quantities and revenues have increased overall," says BLE department head Lutz Wessendorf. "2025 was by far the best in many years for the crab fishermen, which has given them economic upswing again.
