Panennews.com - The Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) is strengthening the protection of the Sumatran Elephant corridor in the Special Purpose Forest Area (KHDTK) Benakat Block I, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency (PALI), South Sumatra. This step is taken to preserve the habitat of wild animals and reduce the potential for conflict between elephants and the local community around the forest area. The exploration of the corridor was carried out by the Center for Sustainable Forest Development (P2HB) together with the South Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Agency, the Regional Forest Management Unit XII, Sriwijaya University, Koramil Pendopo, and the Forest Farmers Group as a follow-up to Presidential Instruction Number 8 of 2026.
