Panennews.com – The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is introducing a local feed innovation based on winged bean seeds as a solution to reduce the national feed industry's dependency on imported raw materials, particularly soybean meal. Dependency on imports has been a serious challenge in the development of Indonesia's aquaculture sector, especially due to global price fluctuations and supply chain disruptions that impact the rising costs of fish farming production. BRIN researcher Deisi Heptarina, along with her team, developed a feed formulation for gourami fish using winged bean seeds (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus), a tropical legume rich in protein and with a good amino acid composition.
