The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) detected a primary outbreak of sheep pox in small ruminants (SR) in the village of Gorno Saхране, Pavel Banya municipality in the Stara Zagora region, the agency's press center reported. The disease was identified in a livestock facility with 112 sheep. The owner reported the incident to the competent authorities, reacting promptly upon the appearance of clinical symptoms of sheep pox among the animals and fully cooperating with the veterinary authorities. Measures have been taken to control and eliminate the disease in accordance with European and national legislation. A 3-kilometer protective zone has been established around the outbreak, which includes the villages of Gorno Saхране, Dolno Saхране, Asen, and Skobelevo from Pavel Banya municipality and the village of Golyam Dryanово from Kazanlak municipality in the Stara Zagora region.
