A factory for the production of French fries will start operating in Cherkasy region.

"Potato Agro" company is preparing to launch Ukraine's first potato processing plant for fries, reports agroportal.ua. The enterprise is being built in Cherkasy region, part of the equipment has been delivered, and the start of production is planned for early 2026. The plant's capacity will be around 150–180 thousand tons of potatoes per year. According to Olga Lonskaya, the director of "Potato Agro," almost nobody in Ukraine is growing potatoes specifically for fries, so the company decided to gain this experience. "There are only 2-3 varieties in the State Register of Ukraine for seed material for fries. We are currently trying to select other varieties that will definitely undergo testing to understand whether they will grow in our fields," she noted. The launch of the plant is of strategic importance: it will reduce Ukraine's dependence on imported finished potato products, create new jobs, and stimulate the development of the agro-processing industry even in difficult conditions.
