Vietnam continues to push for stable growth in the agricultural industry.

Core tip: According to the Statistics General Department of the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam, it is predicted that by 2025, agricultural, forestry, and fishery production will face many difficulties and challenges. Natural disasters have occurred in many areas, causing casualties and property losses, and agricultural activities have also been affected. As we enter 2026, the agricultural industry is expected to overcome difficulties and continue to achieve positive results.

Despite facing numerous difficulties, agriculture maintained its growth momentum. It is worth noting that from September to November, heavy rains and floods hit the northern and central regions, causing losses to summer-autumn rice and main rice crops in these provinces. Compared to the summer-autumn rice in the previous year, the 2025 summer-autumn rice yield decreased by nearly 270,000 tons, with main rice crops suffering total losses on approximately 40,000 hectares. Moreover, the livestock industry was affected by the outbreak of African swine fever in the third quarter, resulting in the death or culling of nearly 1.27 million pigs (about 4.8% of the total pig population). This outbreak is considered the largest since 2019.
