The cargo turnover of Astrakhan sea ports increased by almost 70 percent.

The cargo turnover of the Astrakhan ports Astrakhan and Olya since the beginning of the year has exceeded two million tons. This was reported to "RG" by the press service of the regional Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Energy.

It is noted that this is 68 percent more compared to the indicators of the same period last year. Thus, the cargo turnover of the Astrakhan port increased by 63 percent, to 1.9 million tons. Port Olya increased its handling more than twofold to 300 thousand tons. It is specified that the growth was achieved thanks to a twofold increase in grain shipments. In the cargo nomenclature, this segment occupies 52 percent of the total volume. In addition, the handling of cement through the Astrakhan ports increased twofold, and the handling of chemical fertilizers increased by 43 percent. "Positive dynamics is also recorded in the handling of import cargo with an increase of 12 percent and export cargo (plus 48 percent).
